Apple Cider Vinegar – The Unlikely Holy Grail Toner

Just read about apple cider vinegar and I’m amazed at the number of health benefits it supposedly offers. The one that really got me interested was this: GLOWING SKIN. Hehe. So who else is interested now?? Besides improving the condition of your skin, it also gives you smooth, shiny hair, and helps with weight loss, sinus infections, high cholesterol, acid reflux, and even headaches! I don’t know how true it is, but having read so many positive comments about this wonderfood, I am convinced to try it.

I first stumbled upon this while searching for toners on Since my HG cleanser BOD’s Cleansing Milk has run out and I wasn’t able to find it anywhere, I bought a tube of Clarin’s Foaming Facial Cleanser with Shea Butter. Then I found out that this stuff isn’t really for removing makeup, so i thought I needed to follow up with a toner. Just to make sure that I got every last bit of make up off. So. Having categorized the results of toners firstly by number of reviews, I then looked at the rating or Buy Again percentage. Bragg’s Apple Cider Vinegar was second on the list. It had 454 reviews and a 4.1 rating. It has to be pretty decent to get there on MUA.

After reading 50 reviews, I conclude that the best way to use Apple Cider Vinegar as a toner, is to just soak a cotton pad with a 50/50 mixture of the vinegar and drinking water and swipe it all over your face, avoiding eye area. The fluorides and other chemicals in tap water might kill the active ingredients in the ACV, so use drinking water. The ACV has to be organic, raw, unfiltered with the ‘Mother’. The ‘Mother’ is the murky stuff that you see settling in the bottle, made up of nutrients and bacteria (the good ones, i suppose). It is basically what makes the ACV so beneficial. My local Spinneys didn’t carry Bragg’s ACV, so I got another brand. But make sure it is organic, raw, unfiltered, with the ‘Mother’. It sounds weird and the label on the bottle actually prints “With The Mother”. So just accept that this strange term Mother means The Good Stuff.

If it really works, it will be the cheapest toner ever. We’ll see how it goes!
